What is a Dementia Doula?

A dementia diagnosis can be overwhelming for individuals and families alike. I provide compassionate support, education, guidance, advocacy, and companionship to help people navigate the dementia journey with dignity, confidence, and connection.

A Dementia Doula provides non-medical, holistic support to individuals living with dementia and those who care about them. They walk alongside individuals and families throughout the dementia journey, offering guidance, education, advocacy, emotional support, and compassionate companionship.

The role is not to replace medical professionals, allied health practitioners, or aged care services. Instead, a Dementia Doula helps people make sense of what is happening, navigate challenges, access support, and maintain dignity, identity, and quality of life.

I acknowledge the Kaurna people as custodians of the lands and waters of the Adelaide region, recognising their enduring connection to the land I live and work in. I am inspired by their commitment to maintain a strong cultural, spiritual, physical and emotional connection with their land, waters and community. I pay respect to elders both past and present, and seek to walk the path of reconciliation for a shared and just future for all.

I believe every person deserves to feel seen, heard and valued. I welcome people of every age, ability, culture, faith tradition, sexual orientation and gender identity. My practice is grounded in compassion, dignity, curiosity and respect. Whether you are seeking counselling, dementia support, education or spiritual care, you will be met with warmth, professionalism and person-centred care that honours your unique story. Everyone deserves a place where they belong.
